My name is Wayan, and in my 15+ years of guiding, the Torean Route is hands down my personal favorite. While most trekkers take the usual Senaru route down, we take you through Torean—a path often called the “Jurassic Park” of Lombok due to its massive cliffs, deep green valleys, and thunderous waterfalls.
This 4-day expedition is designed for those who want to see it all: The Summit (3,726m), the Segara Anak Lake, the Hot Springs, and the deep tropical rainforest. It is challenging, yes. But I promise you, the views are worth every drop of sweat.
Why We Recommend the Torean Route
Day 1: The Golden Savanna (Sembalun Village ➔ Sembalun Crater Rim) Our team will pick you up at 05:00 AM. After registration, we start the trek from Sembalun. The track is dominated by open savanna grass—it can be hot, but the breeze is refreshing.
By late afternoon, we arrive at Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639m). This is where the magic happens. You will see the sunset over the caldera with the lake stretching out below.
My team will set up your tent and cook a fresh dinner while you enjoy the view.
Overnight: Tent at Crater Rim
Day 2: The Summit Attack & The Lake (Summit 3,726m ➔ Lake Segara Anak) Wake up at 02:00 AM under the milky way. We begin the hardest part: the summit push. It’s steep and sandy, but our guides will be with you every step.
Reaching the top at sunrise, seeing Bali and Sumbawa in the distance, is a feeling you will never forget.
We descend back to camp for breakfast, then trek down to the Segara Anak Lake. Here, you can swim in the natural Hot Springs—nature’s best spa.
Overnight: Tent by the Lake
Day 3: Caves & The Quiet Rim (Lake ➔ Gua Susu ➔ Propok Rim) Today is for exploration. We visit Gua Susu (Milk Cave), a natural sauna cave used by locals for meditation.
Then, we hike up to a hidden gem: the Propok Crater Rim. This campsite is quieter and offers a unique angle of the volcano that most tourists never see.
Overnight: Tent at Propok Rim
Day 4: The Valley of Waterfalls (Propok ➔ Torean Jungle ➔ Finish) This is the highlight of the descent. We walk through the Torean valley, flanked by towering cliffs.
You will see the iconic Penimbungan Waterfall crashing down the gorge. We trek through the tropical rainforest, listening to the sounds of Lutung (black monkeys) and exotic birds.
We finish at Torean Village around 2:00 PM, where our car awaits to take you to your next hotel.

⚠️ Who is this for? This trek is classified as Hard/Challenging. You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should have a good fitness level and be comfortable walking 6-8 hours a day. Not recommended for pregnant women or those with serious back/knee issues.
🎒 What should I bring? A warm windbreaker jacket (summit is freezing!), hiking boots with good grip, headlamp, sunscreen, and personal excitement!
